And I also haave a program that seems to OC the graphics card itself, called EVGA precision? I tryed to go into the bios and as soon as i got there i was like woah. you have to do a lot of reading sure if you are new to the bios read read read there are many guides online about overclocking. i suggest you read some of them before you start.
it just sounds like you are very new to the bios so take it slow. there is not a one recipe fits all for overclocking. starting with an i7 for a first overclock might be a little dangerous for the pocket book. and i am not trying to discourage you just takes a lot of reading so get started. and good overclocking.

+1 gingerbee.

When I got into it, I was a little intimidated by all the bios settings and what they meant and did. Reading up is really the key and taking it slow....very very slow. If you OC a bit and see great results with an increase in voltage on some setting, don't get carried away and start boosting the voltage in huge increments and expect it to work. Easy to kill your system that way. I'm not gonna lie to you, there's a lot to learn and understand, but get familiar with the basics first (CPU ratio's, FSB or whatever it's called now for i7..I think it's QPI, ram timings, volts, etc.). Theres a lot of good info out there and on this very forum too.

Happy overclocking! It really is a lot of fun once you get the hang of it and it doesn't hurt getting thousands of dollars worth of extra performance by putting in the time to tweak!

The biggest things to watch are overvolting=kill your components
& overheating=kill your components

Use the power of google for info and when you are trying different settings keep a log of what you are doing to track the good and the bad settings. It will save you time when you are doing the inevitable resets. Have fun!
