Default Best program to overclock an AMD X2

Hey, my dad has got an Athlon 4200 X2 2.21 ghz on a GA-MA69VM-S2 Gigabyte board... Now I looked in the bios and I didnt see anyway to overclock from there so I must assume that you have to overclock with a program. I know gigabyte as their easytune software, but is that the best program to use? I do not know anything about amd overclocking or program overclocking. I have an overclocked intel processor myself.

I think I read somewhere that The athlon x2s dont overclock as well as the intel c2d do, so I am also wondering if what i get out of an overclock will really be worth it.

any help is appreciated,
kyle

the boad should came with easytune 5 it's a windows base software for overclock, but honestly I prefer do it with the bios, but as I can see in the manual of our board you don't have this posibity, try easytune, but the one I have try with easytune was able to set it manually in the bios......

Update it to the latest BIOS and you may not have to use the CTRL + F1

Hey, so I got the newest version of the BIOS and you still have to use CTRL + F1, not a problem or anything, so I can set the mutliplier and FSB now, which is good, BUT, it seems on this motherboard being a low end m-atx board... It doesn't support voltage settings other than on the memory i think, it wont even display the voltage.

So, i see there is pin mods for am2, and I can't get Easy Tune to work, it works but the Overclocking is greyed out for some reason i have no idea...

I can overclock it, but without voltage settings i wont be able to get very far... any ideas?

Get as far as you can and then call it a day. That's about it unless you want to try to mod the board.
