Default Nvidia driver 158.45 overclock warning

I don't know if this has been posted but I just found out that the beta drivers for the 8800 cards on vista 32 bit can't be overclocked. Just installed them and they refuse to work with both ATI Tool and Rivatuner 2.01.

Not only that they don't like to be uninstalled either. Simply un-installing the drivers and running a driver cleaner does not get rid of them, you have to completly un-install your card to install older drivers.

The Nvidia 158.24 drivers still work with rivatuner and ATI tool though.

Figured I'd give the 8800 Overclockers a heads up and save some time for them.

Thanks for the warning- have you got rid of them yet- if you're stuck maybe try the 160.4 Beta driver. I wouldn't do it unless you were stuck thoug, as they seem a little dodgy too- the DL site is russian (as theis driver is supposedly leaked and should not be out tehre) but people have tried it and they do at least work.

The 158.22 WHQL seems good for overclocking. But I am having serious problems overclocking a 8600GT with it.

Then again, it may be the card as well.

ya, you were saying somethign about that in ncix to sky. I managed to get the 158.45 un-installed, I had to go into the device manager and un-install the video card co,pletly after that I was able to install the 158.22 drivers. But I just had a driver failure with the 158.22 drivers. They overclock fine buu started up my computer this morning and it was telling me my video card drivers were corrupt.

I always use Driver Cleaner Pro when I am removing my drivers. Simple to use and works for a variety of different drivers.

I use driver cleaner pro as well lol. The drivers just refused to be tooken off. I've never had to un-install my video card from the device manager just to install new drivers before so i think they just might be very stuborn drivers, mabey nvidias attempt to stop video card overclocking? lol, I mean come on how long has it been since Ntune stopped working right
