Hmm I didnt know the i7 made that much difference on frames, bet running 64bit and more ram helped too =) awesome benchmarks though RJ, very helpful.

Is 2GB of Ram, 64 bit OS and DX10 not making a difference?

Neat, thanks- I'd be curious to see what the single card score is for the i7 setup though. I'm wondering if any of the i7 advantage stems from better scaling in SLI.

Too bad you didn't have two 64 bit OSes- it migth even be interesting to run the i7 test under a 32 bit to level the memory address playing field (I know it's not practical for you though)

I have a single gtx 260 and my fc2 scores jumped from 50 to 70 fps over my q6600. People who say the i7 has no advantage for gaming just don't own one. I think a lot has to do with the huge bandwith of ddr3-1600mhz though. Almost triple my ddr2-1000mhz

I just think that your q6600 didnt oc that well like your i7 and you was limited by cpu speed but yeah ddr3 memory bandwith is huge!

If you remember when Fixt ran through a whole whack of benches for FC2, there was a clear advantage for DX10, so that's got to account for something as well.

Yeah I also did some Benches with FC2 @ 4.05 Ghz, but didn't have those numbers written down in my notes....of course its a "combination" of the I7 Chip, DDR3 Memory and perhaps DX10 (although many folks still claim games run better on DX9 vs DX 10).
Bottomline - this thing really does "rock the socks off" any Title I throw at it.....glad to see a Chip that can finally keep up to or pull away from the GPU's.

yah mon. I was floored at my benchmarks with the i7, especially after hearing that these chips did not offer much for gamers.

Hogwash! Going SLI would not have jumped my scores higher than the i7 upgrade did.

18,098 to 23,945 in 3DMark 06!
