Default Hard Drive benchmarks

The first benchmark result is my WD 500GB Hard Drive, which serves as the storage medium for all my media files; it's also the hard drive that video input is captured to. I notice that the consistensy of data transfer rates wanes almost as much as my OS drive; which is odd. Anyways, I guess I could chalk this up to Vista Home (which is what I'm running) just checking the HDD every so often for whatever reason.

The second hard drive is my 160GB Seagate that I use for my OS and applications. Is it odd that this older lower-capacity drive has a higher burst transfer rate than my WD 500GB?

for the heck of it, I also ran the benchmark on my 8GB Flash Memory stick I own. I was expecting higher transfer rates from a USB 2.0 flash drive... :/ it doesn't matter anyways.

Though I didn't include it in the pic, I also benchmarked transfer rates to/from my cellphone... lol, quite low.

Anyways... just wondering what you all have to say, if anything, on the matter.

My rig is an E8400 @ stock 3.0GHz speeds and 4GB of RAM. OS is Windows Vista Home Basic 32 bit.

The temperatures for my hard drives:

160GB Seagate: Lowest is 26C, highest reached is 34C.
500GB WD: Lowest is 24C, highest is 30C.

My case is an Antec 900.

comments?

Oh oh, pick me...I've got something to say...

That's my 1tb Western Digital Black drive...
The WD640AAKS 640gb drive is just as fast, and it seems like for $80 it's probably the best upgrade you could do to your computer...

No offence, but that's SLOW. In all reality, it's not much faster than your USB drive (which is running as it should).

Take a serious look into a new drive, you'll be impressed with how fast they are.

I am. I have my eye on either a 1TB WD drive much like yours, or a 1.5TB Seagate drive. Not for OS uses, though, my 160GB is fine for that.

And damn, son, those are some nice benchmarks!
