Low score 3dmark06, OC advice?

System is as follows

Phenom II 940 (3405mhz) stock voltage Idle: 30C, Load: 45C
Stock HSF
Corsair 850tx
Msi K9a2 Platinum
(3x1gb) kingston ram, (1x2gb hynix) (oem kinda ram)
Diamond Hd4850 (core 690, memory 1188)


Fsb is at (227x15), Ram is running at 1:2. Haven't done anything to ram timings/voltage. I ran prime95 last night for 10hrs with no problems.

I get about 12500 pts in 3dmark06, which isn't terrible but theres phenom 1's that are clocked lower and get a better score.

If I can't really tweak anything maybe ill try running the processor stock.

what are the actual speeds of your memory/timings.

I don't think memory affects 3DM06, at least it never affected mine. What's your point breakdown by category? (CPU, SM2, SM3) Video card drivers?

I think it does. my score went from 18000 with a q6600@3.6 1000mhz ddr2 to 22000 with a i7@3.6 1600mhz ddr3. The cpu score didn't go up enough to justify it but my Sandra bandwidth score tripled.

Timing is 6-6-6-18 @ 400mhz, which I think is right. In the bios with the ram set to 1:2 gives me 800mhz.

Driver is Version 8.512. I think there is a 9.2 out that I can give a shot.

I get 12600 with a e6750 and the same vid card, same clocks and 1x1gb ram @900

so a phenom2 is the same as my cpu? maybe I wont be making the leap...

haha, yeh I know. Something doesn't seem right...dunno if switching to a good brand of ram and lowering the multi/raising the fsb will make a big difference?

that ram is crap. I don't know of any 800mhz ddr2 that doesn't run at 4-4-4-(12 or 15)

That score then seems about par for what you have.
