Default e5200 OC SUCCESS!!

yes!! just overclocked my e5200 to 3.6ghz (12x300)

I duno what the voltage is at cuz my mobo is weird, I set it to +15% over voltage though.

Stress testing with prime95 for almost 10 minutes now and it seems to be topping out at 65 celsius, read somewhere that 70 should be the limit and 60 is good head room, so 65 should be decent, thank god its not going up anymore than that. This is with a stock HSF (reading was taken on Core Temp 0.99.3)

turned off speed step, I read somewhere that I should turn it back on, once I know the system is stable?
locked the pci-e to 100mhz
couldn't find an option to lock pci to 33mhz but I don't have a card in there, so it should be ok for now.

Gonna try and see how crysis runs now, was lagging a bit before OC.

What you guys think?
Is there any other safety precautions that I may have forgotten about?

Also, one thing i'm unsure about and kinda worried about is how much stress I'm putting on my 400w psu, maybe I'll save the bios settings and revert back to the stock bios settings till I test the wattage with a watt reader or something. Is there a program to measure power consumption and psu load?

edit: just checked cpu z. My voltage is at 1.232v

Heh... that's the first step. Give it 6 months and you'll be slapping some water on it, and within the year you'll be looking longingly at the folks with the pelts &/or DICE setups....... :)

Congrats!!!

lol, so this is how it aaaall starts eh...

I think I will set the fsb to 288 and then turn speed step back on. My ram will be underclocked to 576mhz but that should be ok.

What do you fellas think about that?

After Pelts/Dice/And Phase/Cascade you have the "Thinktank" That is the final Phase of "OC Sanity"

I wonder what I could do with one of these E5200's in my current rig... 12x multiplier looks smexy.

its 12.5 at its max :D I just set it to 12.5x288. I think I read somewhere that you could clock e5200s higher and easier than e8200s, although clock for clock it wouldn't be as effective

man the thing I hate about this mobo is the vcore changer. you can only set it to +5%, +10% and +15% original vcore. Tried setting it to +10% and it came to 1.17v. Everything booted but my speakers would make weird wind noises. Then when I tried stress testing my first core would fail. Guess its not enough juice hehe
