You'll never come close to the Quad cores with Sandra though- almost should be two sparate threads.

What would be the purpose of owning a quad then if not to shame those with lesser cpus???? :)

I actually like to see everything included in the same list, it usually gives me an idea of when I'm no longer comfortable that my older gear stacks up OK to the newer stuff. (It was the C2D 1M super-pi scores that convinced me it was time to at least look at upgrading to a dual core proc)

Well- I guess the thing is that these scores tend to make people think that the Quads perform twice as fast as the Conroes, which they don't in the real world.

I would assume though that they would outperform the conroes on apps which are coded to take advantage of quad core vrs dual.

I'll have to ask the folks in the FAH thread what the difference in times for running the SMP on a Dual vrs a Quad is.

Synthetic tests may not show us what real world results will be, but they do offer a view of what "could be" if programs were coded to make use of new tech.

OK heres my first attempt at 3.2 with the new board. Can't say I'm particularly happy with it as I can't seem to get over 3.2ghz without crashing and I can't tell whether its the ram, or MB

Picasa Web Albums - james - PC

yes its the same chip 3.8ghz on the EVGA 680i and sorry about the resolution it says DH 29432, WH 20422

I can't read your results, scratch. That's the same processor that you got 3.8 out of on the evga, is it?
