You can also get points from regular cooling and newer hardware. I gained about 10 points last night just benching this E8400 on H20 for 2D last night.

Actually I CPU-Z'ed my T2300E last night (my lappy's CPU) and snagged 0.9 pt - and it's not overclocked... also I benched Wprime 1024M with my Quad at 3.7GHz and got rewarded with 2.9 pts, for a 5:55.770 time. Same Quad produced 1.7 pt with Wprime 32M (11.220 secs).

Bits and pieces, here and there... I just may try to oc my lappy, to gain a few more points... RMClock still works like it should? Any other software that could oc a lappy's CPU?

It seems you either run something 100yr olds or you run something on DICE and H20 if you wanna score.

I got a old p3 500 being setup right now for benches hahaha.

And that's where I agree with Balistx - they should seperate the pts system based on the cooling method.

Its not even cooling its the type of benchmarking and hardware.

I mean my e8400 running at 4.3 ghz is faster and newer than a lot of machines out there but because a few guys have benched them over 5ghz on DICE or h2o i get no points.

you guys, there is no way to regulate or even pretend to regulate based on cooling. even if you could regulate based on cooling, what happens when someone benches on air in -50C ambients. you will then be stuck in the same boat asking for regulated cooling in certain ambient temperatures.

HWBot is where some of the best overclockers come to compete. show up to a NASCAR event in your monte carlo and ask for a special stock class just for you...it won't happen. either up your game or move on, simple as that.

sorry if this comes across as rude but whining about something that goes against the logic of what the site is all about is just a waste of time.

There is no logic to the site. I'm not whining either.

I don't understand how someone with a machine from 10 yrs ago can win points due to it being slow and never used but someone with a new machine that runs fairly well and faster than a lot of people gets none.

Thats my beef.

Explained like such, I now understand what the site is all about. Nothing rude here Jody. The issue on hand is that if you wish to compete with the latest hardware, you need some major kick-ass cooling setups, ones that are available to very few enthusiasts. But as you stated, if I wish to compete, it's up to me to setup such cooling.

Thanks for the clarification.

John

If you have a cpu not listed go to hwbot forums and request it and they will add. Just post a cpuz under cpu requests
