Well cool! literally and figuratively heh. My nose is about to drop off I'm so cold but Prime went 3 hrs without a hiccup and as I thought once I turned my *extra cooling measures off the load temp jacked back up to 78C for the last 10mins of the test. Yawn it's been a long day of newb OC'ing for this Canuck but I'm learning so much thanks to you guys. Tomorrow I'm going to set that FSB Strap to 333 as enaberif suggested and take the Vendetta out, re-paste and give the bolt-thru kit one more go. I'm off for a really hot shower and bed but I'll leave a couple more picts to show you just how cold my room got and my last prime run. ![]() ![]() Nite folks and thanks again

Morning matsta. cough I think I got a cold from my extra cooling shinanigans last night, I feel like a truck ran me over. Yes tjmax reads 95 On a side note here pertaining to the LGA775 bolt-thru kit I have. Do you see that clear plastic cover fitted around the back plate? When I tried to install this before I tried with that plastic thingy on the backplate thinking it was some protective feature like a fiber/paper washer you see ppl use when screwing their mobo down. I'm wondering if I should take that off and it's just there as a packing feature to stop undue wear. I'm going to hit the hardware store this morning for some wet/dry sandpaper to lap my Vendetta as I thought it was awefully rough when I was cleaning it with alcohol. Also my brother whos a mechanic suggested I put the bolt-thru springs in the freezer for an hour and that should shorten them up minutely enough so I can reach the backplate.

OK thanks guys I changed that to 100 but the temps it's reading didn't change. I was reading up on a few things this morning and I disabled LLC (Load Line Calibration) in my bios after reading this tidbit AnandTech: Overclocking Intel's New 45nm QX9650: The Rules Have Changed enaberif I also changed FSB Strap to Northbridge to 333 but my FSB/DRAM ratio in CPU-Z still reads 5:6

I took the plastic piece off...mind you I had the same thought ...but I figured it looked to much like protective packaging and plastic is a bad static surface so I took it off.

Yeppers enaberif that was my next coarse of action...widdling down the options heh. I figured the reason I had seen others say FSB strap to 333 was because they were using *cough* lesser ram, while mines got ninja powah ![]() I'm gonna be about an hour here as I've got my mobo out and dismantled as I lap this Vendetta 2. You guys wouldn't believe the uneven surface on this, I was very astonished at how much the aluminum base fingers that holds the copper heat pipes were. took me an hour to lap them down till I hit copper. Anyways I'll make a post with lotsa picts in my worklog in a bit as it's not really pertinent to my OC and is DEFINATELY work!
