Default Ubuntu 8.04 install

So, currently on my laptop, I have a XP adn a Vista partition. Seeing my xp partition go to waste, Ive decided to install ubuntu over it. However When I try to install it, there is no option to take the files from xp and put them into ubuntu, some sort of "upgrade". Any ideas on how I might accomplish this?:help:
