Default Upgrading Windows 8.1 N question

Hey Gang,
I have a copy of Windows 8 N upgraded to 8.1. My question is? Is N a retail copy or an OEM? And if not sure. How do I check my version to see. I ask this because. I will be upgrading my PC to Skylake. And if this is an oem version. Then tthe OS will be tied to my current hardware. Thanks.

"N" is a european license with media player (and IE?) stripped out.

What is a Windows 7 N edition? - Microsoft Windows

For version info, right click on "My PC" and select properties. No guarantees, but my 8.1 OEM machine has the letters OEM at the end of the product ID at the bottom while my 8.1 Pro upgraded from 8 Retail doesn't.

Yes indeed. Both of my machines with 8.1 N does not have those "OEM" at the last part of their product IDs.

From command prompt (run as admin): slmgr /dlv

That should give you everything you ever need to know about licensing in Windows. I guess the main piece your looking for is "Product Key Channel".
