Default A silly question about wallpaper sizes & ratios

Hi guys,

So here's a silly question. I'm downloading wallpapers from a great site called InterfaceLIFT at the moment, and it got me thinking about resolutions & ratios, and more importantly, which sizes I should download. Obviously I'm grabbing the ones that are at my LCD's native resolution (1920x1200), but I'm also trying to future-proof by download a collection of other sizes & ratios (e.g. 2560x1600). This is just in case that I upgrade in the future and get a monitor with higher resolution, or even different display ratio.

So my question is this, do I need to use the exact display resolution that is native to my monitor to get the best picture quality? Or can I use one that is of higher resolution (but same ratio, such as 16:10)? Basically, I'll just grab the highest available resolution wallpaper of within each ratio group (e.g. 16:10, 16:9, etc.). Or will using a wallpaper with higher resolution than my LCD's native resolution produce system slowdown due to scaling on the fly with each wallpaper?

Higher resolution, same aspect ratio is fine. It'll look exactly the same, also wallbase.cc is awesome for wallpapers as well.
