My System Specs

Angry @#$!&%#@!!!!!! M$

My freaking XP install lost all of its user data when I tried to "view hidden files" in the documents folder!!!!

Trying to do a repair as we speak, but I've got a sneaking suspicion there's a full reload in my future..... :(

In case anybody is wondering what losing all of your user data means......

I have no program files to start (not even the M$ ones) in my start menu, and all of my documents are hidden away.

I suspect that my DRM is also now broken, but of course I couldn't tell because I couldn't access any music player to find out.......

I'm doing a repair now, but that's pretty well a full install anywise....

Of course... If I didn't have system restore turned off....

Nope..... it picked up my drivers, but it still doesn't have any user info (that stuff was somehow deleted by XP when it was changing the read status of the folder....) so the only thing the repair did was give me back a media player icon. I still don't have any program files...... :(

reload it is I guess.........

Heh... it's the first time I've seen it as well. I've been having some DRM issues over the last little while so maybe it's related to that.

Ah well.... been at least 4 months since I did a full install on that machine anywise.... probably good to get one done.

Spring cleaning. I always disable Restore.. i'd rather reformat/reinstall.

Unfortunately this particular HD wasn't partitioned so I don't have my normal small partition to back up all of my drivers and such so that I can re-format the main partition (I hate having two windoze installs on the same partition, and XP doesn't as of yet have a "replace old installation" selection...).
