Hardware monitor for ubuntu 11.10?
So I'm setting up a smp rig for folding but I can't seem to be able to find a hardware monitor for ubuntu that works(I'm able to install) does anyone have any suggestions or possibly a link to a hardware monitor? All I really need is to monitor the cpu temp.

P.S. I'm an ubuntu noob as of now so a guide to installing the program would be helpful too. :thumb:

If you just want something simple there is something called xsensors that will give you cpu core temps. it is available in the software centre i think.

Here's the Ubuntu guide for lm-sensors: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SensorInstallHowto
Xsensors and a bunch of GUI-based monitors are based on lm-sensors, which is what actually does the work.

If you can deal with using the terminal / console, then you can just type in "sensors" (you don't even have to sudo or be root) and get a dump of all your sensor readings.
I'll note however that some AMD processors need to override a driver before they'll give you a temperature reading: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=120876
