Default .avi to .mp4 video converter

Hi I am looking for a decent free program that will convert my .avi files to .mp4. I ripped my DVD`s to my laptop and converted the files to .avi and now I have a new samsung galaxy nexus and I can`t get my movies on it.

Anyone know of a good program?

Instead of converting, have you tried using other video player app from the market like dice player etc?

I LOVE Mediacoder. Especially their CUDA-based application.

I used to use Mediacoder a lot but found it to get very buggy so I stopped using it about a year ago (would get errors on it when other solutions like Mediaespresso, and even older versions of Mediacoder worked). I did not use the Cuda specific one though.

I haven't experienced any issue with the CUDA-based one. It is regularly updated too.
