All though Microsoft Security Essentials is excellent software I still use MallWareBytes and NOD 32 for now

Anti-Virus =/= Anti-malware.

MSE + Malwarebytes paid version is a very good combo. So too is avira free + malwarebytes paid.

IMHO relying on just one OR the other...is a bad idea.

How is avast nowadays...been awhile since I used it as it turned into a turd there for awhile (though still EONS better than what avg turned into)?

Avast is pretty awesome in my opinion. Use it at work, home, toss it on whatever PCs I fix on the side. Doesn't seem to take much in terms of resources. Only things I do is turn off the sounds (good god that's annoying) and turn off the Auto sandbox. One thing I love is the website checking. It's stopped me from going to virus filled sites when I accidentally click an ad or bad link in Google. Updates pretty regularly and I haven't had a problem with viruses since I built my first computer in 2008 and slapped Avast on it.
