i've been using ESET smart security for a few years now. moderately priced, does everything i need and then some. low usage of resources.

since mse came out i won,t recommend avast or avg.

avast has become heavier on resources and the amount of issues i've seen with avg makes me leary of it.

I personally don't use anything but for clients and family/friend I install MSE. IMO, the best free one all things considered. I also ensure to install Malwarebytes in case of need. To get rid of a bad infection I run Malwarebytes, Combofix, Dr Web Cureit, and possibly aswmbr and gmer or any combination of those as the needs dictate.

I put MSE and Malwarebytes on all the systems I deal with, and make sure the Java updater is on. The last 4 infestations I've have had to deal with were all Java exploits.
