My System Specs

Default Firefox / Thunderbird 7

Have any of you tried the latest batch of Mozilla software?
This should probably be Firefox 4.4 or something if you go by the old system where you need to rewrite a layer of the code to be able to change the integer part of the version number. I wouldn't be able to know the difference between Firefox 6 and 7 without looking at the About pages anyway.

That said, the rendering engine changes make it play a little nicer with GPU folding in the background (it no longer cripples my main computer when you finish a download to open the little notification at the bottom-right side of the screen). Opera still does a better job of not getting crippled by the 76xx GPU3 units.

I just upgraded both last night. IIRC, one of the changes with FF7 is that the GUI and tabs are under different processes. It was late and I didn't check if this is the case,though...just passing along what I've heard.

Why doesn't my FF 6.0.2 detect version 7 and update to it?
The about screen says "You are currently on the release update channel"

I actually switched back to FireFox 7 from Palemoon. That's gotta say something!

Well I'm back to Opera as my primary browser, but that doesn't say much given I swap every 4 months or so

I just found I was trying too many extensions to make Firefox look like Opera:
  • Vertical Toolbar to access bookmarks from the side of the screen
  • Download Manager Tweak so downloads doesn't take up another window
  • Haven't found an extension or equivalent to recently closed tabs in Opera

Is it me or is there barely any difference in ram-usage between version 6 and 7? =/
