Default Win7 pagefile with SSD...

I'm in the process of tweaking a new win7pro install.

In the past , I have setup the OS on one harddrive , and the windows pagefile on another in order to boost performance.(mechanical hdd's)

I have made the move to SSD's for my OS drive , so my question is this ;

I've got raptor HDD's I can put the pagefile onto , but will this help given the speed of ssd's ? or will it actually slow the system down ?

Here is a quote I found from an article on Tomshardware - Can You Get More Space Or Speed From Your SSD? (LINK)

Quote:
You can disable the paging file to free up space that would have otherwise been set aside on your SSD by the operating system. But bear in mind this move isn't without risks. Should your system run out of physical memory, the fact that there is no virtual memory available to allocate means that subsequent crashes are quite likely. Really, this mostly makes sense if you have a ton of RAM and aren't worried about the potential for data loss should an application crater in the event your system exceed what is installed.
So my guess is it has more to do with saving space rather than gaining speed. It probably has little/no effect on the speed of your SSD

I believe some have said that having the page file on the SSD is better than on the HDD as it's quicker to read/write. Unless you need the extra couple GB's, I'd probably just leave it as-is, or configure it to a smaller size if you have a fair bit of RAM.

How much ram do you have? What I would suggest to do if you have a lot is to just shrink the page file from 1GB min 2-4GB max. Then just leave it on the SSD.

Yea space isnt an issue.

It totally seems to me that leaving the pagefile on the ssd would be faster.......

if ram is 4 GB or more I would suppress it completely.Both my systems run like this with w7u and memory occupancy is under 2 GB.

If space isn't an issue, leave the pagefile on the SSD. It will actually do good for your performance if Windows ever needs to access the pagefile.
