Default AVIRA WARNING!

got 3 machines infected,all had avira freeware installed,running and up to date.

forgot to take pics, but they got hit with one of those 'you got a virus,put your cc number here'

went to safe mode and hijackthis whatever started with windows. got avg free,installed,updated,removed all that it found(some were not bad but what the heck)


so far so good. bud of mine got half a dozen infected,still checking with the rest

Seriously?

This isn't a virus its spyware/malware.

I've seen this get around almost EVERY antivirus out there to date.

maybe i should update first post

basically it messed up avira bad,locked it up or something. not your regular malware.

Yes this does this on all systems. The really bad one is the one that basically embeds itself so bad into windows simple things like task manager don't work

oh,nothing worked. i tried to click on avira,locked up hard

ive seen these with the same or similar interface,but was able to get rid of them easy. this time..not.

try hijackthis in safe mode and then avg.

this pair worked for me,the rest no workie.

Best solution...Acronis. Nuke and restore from backup. IF you have backups set to happen every 3-4 days...no big loss. ;)

BUT this is why I always recommend running paid version of MB w/ ANY av program. Those who dont and claim you dont need to as AV can catch malware now...should be working for.... ahem....Technical Analysis and Research Division, Eastern District...as that is what they are (and yes I actually did see a REAL company with this name) :)~
