I do have that but I had my windows backing up to my data drive which is my HDD

Wow, amazing news. OTL is the greatest program in the world. I scanned. Clicked clean up. Restarted my computer and now security center is turned on

I'm so happy

never heard of it but I did do a web search and found this OTL by oldtimer a modern replacement for hijackthis it looks like a promising tool and a nice find
oh and also I am glad you figured out the problem. I am curious as to what the problem was

The program never told me what the problem was. I scanned and pressed clean up. Rebooted and everything was fine. Microsoft Security Essentials boots up fine now, and Windows Security Center is on.
