Default WMP 11 audio/video synce problem

Hi guys,

I've just noticed that when using WMP 11 to play mp4 + avi files, the audio would constantly lag by a fraction of a second behind the video, but this same problem is absent when I use a third-party player like SPlayer. I have since done a complete reformat of my system, yet the problem is still there. Is there anything I can do to fix this or at least find out what's wrong?

if it doesn't happen with a third party player then I would guess it would be a codec issue. I know I still have some files that have audio issues unless played in VLC.
