I have an image backup from Friday, and I'll run a files backup now for my update. I've only been gaming this week so the OS dying won't have that much of an impact anyway.

I did 3 machines at work today and other than taking a long time on the one ancient notebook, they all went fine. No real difference but I want my machines at work to be fully up to date before I hand them back to the users.

Updated on all my machines. Boot up is taking a bit longer than normal, but I haven't run CCleaner or Disk Defrag yet. So far so good.

Hi guys,

Rather than starting a new thread I thought I'd ask my question here. I've been trying to let windows update download & install SP1 for my W7 64-bit Home Edition for a few days now, but the download (~80MB rather than the 1GB+) always freezes at around 19%. In fact, after the first failed download attempt, I had to go into the windows update folder and delete the temp files before it would even attempt to download again.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I see a ObjectDock Plus in your signature, did you try to remove it, ot it's may be something similar that cause it.

For those having trouble. Install and run the Windows update readiness tool for Win 7. It will detect and fix problems with the update services.

64 bit here: Download details: System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [February 2011]

32 bit here : Download details: System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 (KB947821) [February 2011]

I havn't been able to update mine either (again, streamlined install), I can't remember if I ran the SURT or not though, I know it was wanting me to do an upgrade install to get what I needed though
