My System Specs

Default XP Hanging on reboot

I don't know why but awhile ago I started getting the odd BSOD and I searched the term and it was listed in microsofts database as possible faulty ram. I haven't had a BSOD in awhile *knock on wood* but yea I was thinking it would be related to this issue, basically when I reboot my PC it hangs at the XP logo for about 5-10 minutes then finally finishes the reboot, should I try running memtest 86+ or something to see if it is faulty ram as I've heard faulty ram can cause alot of odd issues to occur on a pc. So yea if you have any ideas on what it might be or how to diagnose the problem please feel free to tell me, I would honestly like to fix it rather then just run off and format the pc :(

Grab a HDD test utility from the manufacturer
Memtest for the memory
Clean out any dust in the case.

Do you have any external storage devices connect by USB when booting? Try disconnecting them and see if it makes a difference. For that matter, disconnect all USB devices (other than keyboard) and see if it makes a difference.
