Default Windows Vista Ultimate Edition 64bit

I purchased it more than a year ago but never installed it. Would it be worthwhile installing it on a 2yr old laptop or should I give to my cousin who only has XP Home ?

Only install it if either one of those machines have more than 2gb of ram or Vista is gonna choke badly.

I'd put it on that before the XP machine.

Few months ago I had to re-install Vista on some HP laptop. Absolutely terrible experience. The lack of drivers was astounding and it just felt so much slower than 7...

Vista was a pretty bad OS that's for sure. At least Windows 7 improved upon it greatly.

So IMO, I'd leave XP on it. Either run XP or 7. Don't mess with Vista these days.

forget about it. picture this : get a) xp which is like a nice slim racing horse or b)a cow,1 mile per hour max speed which crops every 5 minutes or c)win 7

people think that 7 needs a lot of resources. let me put it this way, i have it on a 512 meg old old lappy, and while it takes a while to boot, lol,it works ok for emails and stuff.

and then i have it for the guests pc, 2 gigs of ram, pritty fast

the release of windows 7 has pretty much de-valued a windows Vista license to nothing. Giving it away to someone who needs it is still a valid cause ;)
