Default Since Drive Extender has been removed...

does anyone know of a product similar to whs?. i rely on this not to lose info when a drive fails.

There's talk of 3rd party add-on for Vail. There shouldn't be any problem with running WHS V1 for another couple of years, so who knows what will be available by then.

Drive extender has been removed on the new WHS ? Wow, so itr is going to be raid based now ? I kind of liked drive extebder functionality. I'll keep my WHS for now then.

Nobody knows for sure until they see the new beta -- whatever it is it'll be up to the hardware vendor (or system builder) to implement it.

Lastly, on a related note, HP has announced that it'll be discontinuing the Mediasmart Server line at the end of the year...
