2009 Vista goes buh bye and Microsoft says hello to its new toy.

DX10? Please thats the biggest joke next to President Bush becoming the president.

Vista offers absolutely nothing worthwhile for it to be needed and that is the reason why I sold two new laptops today because they came with XP over Vista

My System Specs

Default

/me is still using windows 2000 Pro. :P

Had XP but an 8MB Matrox Mystique G220 or whatever, 256MB RAM and 400Mhz PII is just not enough. Considering flashing one of my 32MB DDR Radeon 7000s for it though.

Hah, I also still use 2000 Pro when I do use Windows.

Xp is good too mind you.

Last I checked, it was 2010 (and pretty much every hit when Googling "Windows 7" confirms this) and, knowing Microsoft, they'll be aiming for the end of the year for Christmas sales. That's a solid 3 years from now, so Vista is going to be around for quite some time ...

I also don't see how DX10 is a joke ... It offers better graphics than 9.0c ...

2009 ... 2010 ... same crap just means Vista won't be around long enough to mature and people will still be using XP in 2009/10.

Have you looked at Crysis? Supposed to be the shiznat in DX10 oh but wait! It looks JUST as good with DX9 ... hmm... yah.

Name a GOOD game supporting DX10 yet... there isn't.

There are only a handful of DX 10 games out at the moment ... I think basing the next 3 years on the first 5 months since DX 10 games started appearing is a little overzealous, don't you think ?

World in Conflict is a good DX 10 game and it definitely looks better in DX 10 than DX 9 ... Crysis also looks better in DX 10 than DX 9 on my computer (although it isn't as good as I hoped) ...

I think it all comes down to WHAT system your trying to run Vista/ ME 2.0 (depending on your point of view) on. IF you have a high end computer than it usually is a decent experience (if still buggy and crash prone due to immature drivers).

Unfortunately, bottom end / cheap systems are still not powerful enough to run it properly (IMO anything less than 2GB is not enough). Over the next few years as cheaper system get more powerful MS's next OS should ROCK....and until then there is always Server 2008 to look forward to! AKA "Vista done right"

2009 would a very optimistic estimate. I wouldn't expect to see it until at least 2010, which seems to be the consensus from what I have read.
