I used to be quit fond of Slackware, been a couple years now since I have used it though. Ubuntu would have to be my current pick.

Voted for Gentoo but Debian and Slackware are close behind.

PCLinuxOS for me. It's been the best to me/given me the least troubles and best compatability for probably 4 years. I'm far from great with Linux though.

I personally like Fedora. I've got a production webserver running Fedora Core 3 that had around 900 days of uptime before a UPS hardware failure shut it down.

Oh I don't doubt it. Kernel is Kernel Orville. I just don't like all of that packages crap but to each their own DaleF.

At least RH/Fedora users are getting a bit of a break lately as everyone is too busy bashing Ubuntu to effectively bash RH/Fed. It's like the bash(ers) all moved camps.

If it is successful and easy to use for the masses then the geeks will bash. Some of these guys who bash the elite are elitist themselves as they think that they(the geek) and they alone shall have dominion over all that is Linux. They seemingly strive to keep it as complicated as possible so that no one can ever challenge their superiority.

If Linux ever did become accepted like windows I am sure that many would move OS's probably to BSD as site that Linux has sold out...or something along those lines.

No right or wrong answer obviously.

I find that Ubuntu is more mainstream (not a bad thing) than Fedora, but Fedora has come a long ways since my first experience with it (actually a closely related product, RH9).
