My System Specs

Default Vista processes

I had to laugh when I saw it, but I have 62 running processes in Vista 64 bit. I am curious as to what everyone else running Vista has. Please refrain from bashing Vista here. I do not care if you do not like it. I do. As a sidenote, my PC is faster than it ever was running XP with only 30 background processes so I must say Vista is better in my opinion.

46, 12 of those being programs I have open.

So it would be 34 on a "clean" boot, but I have a lot of programs (browser, IM client, adblocker, dvd copy protection remover, music player, etc.) start up with Windows.

I haven't bothered disabling any services or such, Vista does a great job of managing memory, so there isn't any real gain from disabling services.

I used to be big on disabling services, but even more so with Vista than XP, there's very little benefit to disabling all the services one may not need.

Be careful with that site. I am not a very big believer in "tweaking" Windows and it has been shown time and time again that it causes more problems than it is supposed to fix. My PC is snappier than ever right now and I have anywhere from 59-62 processes running. Even with all that and all of Vista's other stuff running in the background, I still have 2 - 2.5GB free now. Use that BlackViper site as a rough guide. I personally would just avoid it.
