Default Easy way to disable windows search under vista?
Just noticed that a good portion of the resources on my netbook are being taken up by windows search...

Considering this is a low power single core machine with only 2G of memory, and I never use a search function on my pc, I'm a bit ticked that it's been thrown on as a service....

I'm googling like mad now to find a reputable way to turn it off, but would appreciate any suggestions from experienced Vista users....

NVM.... found it as a stand-alone update (don't remember installing it, must have come in with the "important updates").

We'll see if it stays off........

Go into services.msc and disable Indexing Service and Windows Search.

Heh... Just working on removing indexing properties on my main drive.... what a freaking hog!!!!

edit: Hrmmmm..... disabling indexing sure is a good way to see how much crap is on a netbook from the manufacturer.... can't believe how many files are dedicated to the built-in gateway games......
