Default Windows 7 upgrade over Vista

I give my 640 WD black to my niece, I have already vista on it, but since I will install in on an other motherboard, it will fix the driver. Now the questions, I want to install her new downloaded 7 premium upgrade , student version. I have made the ISo , since it's vista , can I choose clean install, and will I have to reactivate the vista first. the other option is to reinstall XP, do I have to activate it too. I don't want to use the reg edit twist.

Look at this: Paul Thurrott's SuperSite for Windows: Clean Install Windows 7 with Upgrade Media

Try the first method, and if that doesn't work use the third one. You can do it without needing any registry hacks or anything.

Short version: Do a full Windows 7 install with the upgrade media. Try to activate it normally. If it doesn't work, boot from the install disc and perform an upgrade installation over your existing Windows 7 install. That will definitely work.

thanks Zero so acording to the text, if I start the installation from the boot install disk , even if I wipe the drive it will activate, because vista was there first, so it's what I gone do
