The wierdest thing is that driver would act in diferent way on any computer. Video card company can't do nonthing about that. Last time I use Nvidia was with a BFG GTX275 OC and I never get it working very fine. I sell it to a work collegue and in his computer we never add any issue with. My 4870 always work like a charm in my rig. Sometime, people will just bark at the chipmaker but you have to understand that there is many different thing that they can't controll. Ho and mark just to say. Imagine if AMD overprice their product now...GT300 would be around 1000$:P

I'm going back to 9.11 for my 4870. Since i've had 9.12, my GPU always overheats and crashes my computer while playing Borderlands or other graphic intensive games. They fixed the borderlands texture problem, but they brought back the Anno 1404 texture bug

I've had my 5870 for several weeks now. From day 1, I would get a big cursor problem and also the screens would flicker whenever its power states changed (i.e. Idle, 2D, 3D).

I started out with 9.11 drivers. Later on, I started getting random BSOD with ATIKMDAG.sys - those BSODs usually appeared when the PC was idle actually.

Later on, those included blank black screens without any cursor or Ctrl + Alt + Del response. I couldn't even reach Windows login!

I've attempted the following troubleshooting with my 5870 Vapor-X:

9.10, 9.11, 9.12. 9.12 Hotfix drivers - no effect
Format & re-install Windows - no effect
Try different PSU - no effect
Try different PCI-E slot - no effect
Try underclocking the card - no effect
Try running my CPU, RAM, etc at stock - no effect
Try underclocking my CPU, RAM, etc - no effect
Try running only 1 monitor - no effect

Today I'll try the card in another machine which is AMD based but I suspect I'll get the same problems. Even if I don't, I will RMA the 5870 because most importantly the card does not work in my INTENDED machine, so WTF?!

I've read extensively online and bricked 5800-series (and some 5700-series) cards is a VERY common problem now regardless of brand or factory-OC or cooling. I will initiate the RMA process with Sapphire on Monday. I have no choice!

I second this. I have never had troubles with ATi drivers so far, yet Nvidia keeps shoving their foot up my .

Recent GTX295 refuses to work for more than 20 minutes in ANY source game (the classic fail to lock vertex buffer), and causes crashes in numerous games.

Heh, both companies have their share of issues. I've had plenty of problems with both.

9.12 helped my computer. I have a 5870, i975 and 12Gb of Ram on Windows7 64bit. Maybe it's the hardware difference or a difference in games.

The only problem im having with my 5870 and drivers is my mouse likes to spontaneously crank its DPI up and my cursor is massive lol. Had the same issue with 2 diff cards (5770 xfire and 5870).

That's a common issue apparently solved if you flash your mobo to the latest BIOS which updates something with the P55 chipset. I'm not sure if this problem also exists on X58 based systems or not.

Sapphire KNOWS they have shipped defective cards. Look what they told me when I tried to RMA my Vapor-X 5870. How can a 1-month old design be end of life?

Sapphire reports that the model of your card has been EOL. Sapphire is going to replace your card with their latest design model, with feature, performance..etc exactly the same as your card. Please see the pic of your model and the new design model that to be replaced.

21161-03- is the model you have now…but its EOL
11161-03- is the latest model that Sapphire will replace
