why use vista still then? It worked just fine for me, but win 7 works so much better. I think you get a 30 day trial the same way vista had to just get a feel for it.

Windows 7 has always been on my menu. Getting it work on vista while others deemed it not possible, now that's just cool.

can you use an ATI card as the accelerator if it built into the motherboard?

Frankly it's all crap that nvidia should have the physx and ati should be denied for any reason. If games are gonna have physx then the industry needs to standardize and not play favorites as it's nothing short of blackballing. It's one thing to support a card as a video game designer it's another to screw over ATI in the process. Another reason why consoles are making a come back.

I'm glad some of you figured out a work around... it's an impressive part of gaming. Physx.

i think a lawsuit for the agiea owners with this. my bfg physx card is sitting there collecting dust since it doesnt work anymore because i have an ati gpu as my primary gpu. I certainly know that when I bought the card there wasnt a " brand A needed or brand B needed " sticker or notification for it to work.

No doubt, it's a crummy thing only being able to have 1 side of the coin.

From what I understand, it's ATI's choosing not to use PhysX. They refuse to believe it's a superior standard (which we could debate for a long time). However, Nvidia also did withdraw their offer (some press releases say they are open to letting them use it) so it's a little bit their own fault. However, I fail how you see this as "greed". If ATI were to use PhysX, Nvidia would make lots of cash off that too. Sure, they may lose some GPU sales but they probably have licensing costs from ATI + game makers. Nvidia also had to spend $15 million on TWIMTBP which includes helping with PhysX support, if it were a standard they wouldn't need to spend so much.

As to your original question, yes, it's totally possible. You got any clue how to code GPU drivers? You're gonna need to make a custom driver that works for ATI cards and Nvidia cards. Have fun! I'd get started now, you may make it by the time Windows 11 is out.

Okay, let me be clear on this one last time. It is impossible to do this on Vista, period.
