Default ATI drivers won't install

I'm trying to install the 9.10 drivers on my build, but everytime I try it and i click "Install" (after its extracted everything) nothing happens and then windows give the "program may not have installed properly message". The drivers are the proper drivers for the proper OS, so I can't figure out what the problem is. The same problem exists with a 4870 1 GB that I tried a few weeks ago.

I'm running Windows 7 RC 64 bit

I presume you're logged in as an Admin user?

I tried it. No luck, I think its a problem with my OS. I've tried have a dozen different drivers over the last week, including those from the installer CD, and none of them work. I've also tried running Vista drivers and they don't work. Hopefully a fresh install of the real Windows 7 will fix everything

I am not familiar with 7 but I have lived the dream of the ATI installs.

The ATI drivers require .net software , yours specifically will be the 64 bit version .net 2.0

Upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7 - Help & How-to - Microsoft Windows

Sequence

Remove all ATI software from machine. This should leave a generic driver for basic gpu functions.

A lot of folks have had issues caused by leftover bits of ATI drivers

Install and then update the .net programs

The install package from Micosoft will need updating for security related issues

With machine connected to WWW , Install your specific ATI driver(s)

When the drivers are first installed they connect to the www, I dont know why(sorry)

I Hope this helps out.

Thanks for the responses, over the last week or so I've tried everything I can think of, including Shredder's suggestion. I've also tried the new 9.11 drivers. Nothing I try seems to work, I think that I'll have to reinstall windows. I'm running the Win7 Beta right now, so a fresh install with the full version is coming down the pipe anyways
