Cool Software compatibility

I'd like to know some answers to microsofts new windows 7. When building a new computer with windows 7 trying to decide which version 32 bit or 64 bit is the best to install. Taking that into consideration I'd like to also know if windows xp software namely games like call of duty 4,5 crysis, bf2 , steam games like l4d, day of defeat, microsoft flight simulator 3 and silent service series are compatable. Is it possible to run these games with 64 bit system. What works - what does not. Thanks.

Yes, essentially most software will run on windows 64 bit platform. If it is not 64 bit designed it may/typically will then work its 32 bit mode. I have found an obscure program or two that will not work in 64 bit OS but a majority of programs will.

not sure on windows 7 but i run vista 64bit and all my games run fine. some required some tweaking due to age (ie: Call of duty and COD 2 mostly due to multicore processors). All my steam games work fine. About the only one i can't get to work in vista is Act of War.
and now for something completely different

My System Specs

if it works on vista 64 then odds are that it works for 7 have run both and not had a single problem ( besides intel storage manager but now that works fine too so )

Almost all programs that i install on vista 64 go into the x86 program files directory. As stated before anything that will run on vista 64 should run on 7, and i havent found anything that wouldnt run on vista 64. CSS, bf2 flight sim 2004, worked. Dont have much software older then that.
