Default Windows7 cheap for students

Probably not new news to everyone here, but I just saw it today.
Students can get Windows7 for $29.99US...

Windows 7 US Online Store - Student Registration

Students in Canada have to wait until Oct 22nd to order.
Need to have a .edu email address, or provide additional proof that you're a student.

Wish I knew someone in college/university...

I already looked into this. Not sure where you got the Oct 22nd date for ordering...I could have ordered it the day they registered my school...The problem was that the conversion price was 69.99 cdn. Yes. 70 bucks. What the hell. Even student office 2007 was 49.99 cdn.

Get Technet, easier and cheaper if you need a couple copies of each.

I wasn't sure about the Oct 22nd date... something I read on a couple sites.
Still seems like a pretty good deal.
I only really need to get one copy for my pc, but if I could get 2 I'd probably use it on the new one I'm building.
Kinda that I spent $120 on Vista in March, but I guess that's how it goes.
Vista is a good OS, but I'd like to try Win7...

Or try HERE for free. Haven't gotten around to installing it, but Windows 7 Pro is free to students here, both x86 and x64 versions. In fact, there seems to be an inordinate number of free software titles for students here.

My school is not on that list

I got the Vista Ultimate through "the ultimate steal" back in April.

Usually professors give out username/passwords for MSDNAA accounts...

You'd either have to ask someone in a CS program or a CS professor

Also...you can modify the link and get Windows 7 Professional
Windows 7 US Online Store - Student Registration (if you logged in you'd see "Windows 7 Professional".)
OR
Ordering page will appear to be for Home Premium.Must click on bottom bar that says “Need to Connect to Network” in order to bring order page for Pro Premium!

Waiting for this to get to Canada...
