Default Win7 Pro Upgrade Question.

Is this a valid upgrade for Vista Home Premium 64bit OEM? MS's site seems to lack those details (or I'm blind and can't find them).

The word, according to both current issues of PC Gamer & Maximum PC, is for most users (gamers and general computing duties) is whatever previous Windows version used, 7 Home Premium will be more than enough. Maybe Professional if you log in to a domain and/or use remote desktop.

Apparently there will be a 3-license family pack of Premium being offered for $30 more than what a single license will cost. $119 vs. $149 US. No-brainer in my book. Fwiw, I never did take benefit of all the Vista Ultimate tools and features so I'll likely be 'downgrading' to 7 Home Premium when the family pack is released.

No matter what version of Vista you used, switching to Windows 7 will always be considered an UPGRADE. :P

I gotta say I've been running Ultimate 7x64 for the last few days and it's day and night... Much faster, less resource hungry and painless so far for drivers compared to Vista even if it had been out for a while
