Ive had a Technet Subscription for pretty much 3 years, the cd keys don't expire when your account does, has long you have them you can use them whenever you want. Multiple times has well, ive activated my windows 7 3 times already with the same cdkey and haven't had a issue.

I wonder how Windows 7 will run on my Acer Aspire 5601 and Intel Pentium 4 1.5Ghz system

You might want to keep that friend part on the down-low. Its against the EULA that Technet has in place. What you actually do is your choice, but MS can pull your account and keys if they find out you're sharing the account/keys

Just a friendly helpful tidbit.
