There is an easy solution :D

Download/obtain a Vista x64 Ultimate DVD(PM me and I'll give you link to a MSDN/TechNet clean and verified torrent), then when prompted for a CD Key, put in your Vista Basic CD Key, it WILL work and proceed to install a x64 bit version of Vista Basic.

From there use the anytime upgrade disk and key to turn it into an ultimate copy, and your done!

Anytime Upgrade key correct? Unfortunately in that case no, MS really made the anytime upgrade a mess.

Oh.... You should be more clear.

Simple, install a clean install of x64 ultimate and do not enter a key when asked, skip it and then make sure to choose Ultimate from the list of options it will give you.

From there once Vista is installed, run the autorun file from windows again and put in the CD key this time and select upgrade, and your done!

Your disk is most likely fine. Go into the bios and check your boot order, make sure to put the DVD/CD Drive/Removable Device above/before your Hard Drives.
