My System Specs

Default

Firefox latest build - upon opening, no sites open, 35MB usage !

600mb may appear big, but it grows depending on your use. Don't forget extensions/plugins are loaded in RAM, it also seems to cache things in RAM, which is why it looks faster loading pages - so all this adds up - if you select the option that clears stored data (cookies, entries, etc) it will bring down your mem usage - the browser itself initially takes 35~40mb. :)
