Default Invited Win7 Beta Testers receive Ultimate for free

Quote:
"In a surprising turn of events, Microsoft has changed its mind and decided to give participants of the "Windows 7 Beta Program" a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate after all, according to the Windows 7 Team Blog: "To show our appreciation, members of the invitation-only Windows 7 Technical Beta Program will be eligible for a free, final copy of Windows 7 Ultimate."

Pretty cool. Wish I was in the beta, though.

EDIT: durr, typo in title

yeah BUT this is only for the invite only early beta testers. If you DL'ed and are running the RC and where not invited by MS to do so you are SOL.

Yeah, I probably should have clarified that in the OP.
If MS gave it out to everyone with the RC, they'd be broke

I was so excited when I first started reading this earlier today. But then when I saw that it was to invited beta testers I was sad. I'd really like to see Win7 opened up to all beta and RC testers. I think after Vista we deserve it.

I disagree considering a lot of their income comes from Business licenses and Office licenses.

:( My bad. I should have put "Invited Beta Testers..."
And I suppose you're right about the business/office licenses. They would certainly lose a lot of money, though.

I'm holding off on installing Windows 7 for now as I am very happy with XP and Vista I use only for DX10 specific gaming - I'd love to see how games compare between VISTA & W7 further down the road because so far they run better in VISTA and I suspect drivers are not mature enough - so I'll wait.

Lucky, I've tested it the entire time it's been in public beta. I've participated in a bunch of forums, questionnaires, etc... I wish I got my free version of Win 7 Ultimate
