For me, the 9.7 driver set is the first in a while to deliver fully stable Crossfire gaming. Detailed specs of my PC can be found in my sig, but basically I'm running dual 4890 cards in Vista Business 64-bit.

XP Media Center 32-bit, crappy old MDG system with a 2400 here. 9.7 causes a freeze at boot, requiring me to go into safe mode and revert to 9.6. Tried manually installing from the site, and installing the version without the Catalyst Control Center, and experienced the same results.

I believe it is the 1000 series and below (eg x1900) that have been dropped from the monthly catalysts. All the HD2xxx and HD3xxx should still be supported, but probably won't see the same improvements the HD4xxx are seeing due to being a mature product line.

Is it just me, or does CF support get worse with every release. I now have to restart after enabling CF in order not to get serious artifacting in everything, Vista and XP, a year ago, I only had to do that in Vista for one program. And NO matter which port I plug my second monitor into now, I can't enable CF with it enabled, I mean, it was kinda picky back when I had HD3870's but after a few days, you could make it work, but now... Lack of multi monitor support was why I ditched SLi, Ati seems to be going backwards.

9.6 seams to be the best for my set up , 9.7 was worse . maybe the 9.8's will show some improvement

CF on the systems I support, seems to be getting better and easier for me *shrugs*
