Default Vista Control Panel problem

interesting problem today on my new Vista install

for some reason my Control Panel will not open something I've never seen occur before. It initializes and I see the GUI begin to resolve then it simply fades away and I get the little Vista circle thingy for a second...thats it, no error message nothing?

Reinstall it? That usually fixes weird things like this.

I've been running Vista x64 for just over a month (I think). Never had any issues with control panel not opening.

I had this same problem, I think it's due to one of the latest hot fixes. Anyways, it is quite easy to fix. Goto start-run "services.msc"

Restart Software Licensing, SLUNotify & Readyboost

That should fix your problem.

I had this problem too, back in January '07 on a clean install of Vista. About Half of the items in the control panel have the same problem, and don't open properly.

It was annoying to troubleshoot, and I was pressed for time, so I ended up reinstalling Vista, haven't had the problem on any computers since.
