My System Specs

Default React Operating System Alpha release

OpenSource XP replacement OS.

ReactOS Homepage - Frontpage

Still in Alpha stage so it's probably not going to be stable, but I'm certainly going to dig up an old HD to install it on to give it a shot........ :)

How interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if MS shuts them down sooner or later though...

Just downloaded both the install and live CDs. A whopping 20MB each

I might try running it on this old ThinkPad I have. P2 400MHz, 192MB RAM, 3GB hard drive (12GB in it died, and I only had a 3GB).

I think this would run really nice on older machines due to is small size.

They won't be shut down for a while. They've been around for quite some time too. The last 2 years or so, infact, they were forced to audit their code because MS found some MS owned code in their source.

Now that that is done though, they are going to start releasing more improved versions. Right now it isn't too stable however.

I tried the Live CD and couldn't get it to boot. Just sat at a black screen.

I'll have to try the installable version.
