HDMI sound issue on Mint 7 64bit (ubuntu)

I installed Mint 7 64bit on a Asus M3N78-VM which has onboard 8200.

I used the nvidia 800 driver and got my 1920 x 1080 res on my TV going but so far no sound thru HDMI.
I went into the sound area and tried using HDMI sound for music and movies but no matter what I have tried so far, no sound when I test it.

I had a Vista install before on this system and sound was working so at least I know that it works.

Is there something else I need to do or ubuntu app to install ?

Since i'm not a big Linux guy my comment could be out there. Do you have the latest version of ubuntu? You easily could have an out of date one where there are no HDMI drivers yet/for it.

Have you posted on the Ubuntu forums? I'm sure they'd be more helpful since I think most HWC'ers run Windows...

I'll get around to it I guess ... I just figured that many would be running linux on tv pc's now.
