Vista SP1 File Tranfers - Slow as hell
I should know this, and I have remedied it before on PC's before SP1, but for the life of me can't remember now, when I need it most, how to fix the file transfer speeds on vista (with service pack 1) when going from Hard drive to hard drive.
I'm currently trying to copy over 15GB of data, and I am running at a pathetic 3-5mb/s from connected SATA drive to SATA drive.
It is faster to copy to my USB stick and then back on which hits 20mb/s and sustains 15!!
Hulk smash Vista! Hulk install Windows 7.
OK, not helpful, but hope it made you smile.
Supposedly there is a hotfix to FiXT. Speed up slow file transfers on Windows Vista | Vista Rewired
I had a problem with Vista file-transfer this week. I had updated my BIOS version (just to try). Windows said there was a problem with Host Processes. I stepped back one version, and that solved it.
On Asus M3A32-MVP...
Vista is slow as hell, windows 7 is better for file transfers...just isnt as good as xp.
Vista is FINE if you tweak it properly.
Are you running your hard drives in IDE or AHCI mode?
