Win 7 on an old rig

My cordless mouse on my HTPC was getting flakey and as you all know there isn't a lot selection wise for remotes that work on XP so I figured I'd try W7 X86 on the old bugger.
It's an Asus P4P800SE with a 2.8 Northwood and a gig of 400 ram and an HD2600Pro AGP.
All I can say is "holycrapthisiswaywaybetterthanXPateverything! "
I never expected it to run this good, it boots faster, I now have Media Center and the icing on the cake is my mouse is back better than ever!

It definitely does feel great to be running a soon-to-be release OS on ancient hardware. Now you can use it as a HTPC! Have fun!

Really? That is good to hear, ever since switching to Vista and having better driver support (after the fun years of there being none) and switching to now Windows 7, i've hated trying to fix my parent's XP machine.

Yeah I'm running Windows 7 on a similarly speced machine myself (only I have a gig more ram and a lesser video card). It runs fine besides the fact that it won't run aero. It boots pretty quick and I don't have any really noticeable slow down. It almost feels faster then when XP was on there, but it may just be the fresh install doing that.
