Default Is this a good computer for gaming?

staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?Catlds=73%2C74,381&webid=780853&affixe dcode=WW It is all as 1 link just copy and paste it. Could it run a game like world of warcraft smoothly with NO lag? Far Cry 2? I just want to play games. Also is the price good for it? Price is Canadian $.

Welcome to HWC! Hope you'll enjoy your stay!

Also, that computer won't do really well when it comes to gaming. The nVidia Geforce G100 will hold you back. IIRC, it's the 9400GT or 9500GT rebranded?

You're better off building your own computer, as you'd get a lot more bang for your buck that way. We would be happy to assist you if you decide to go that route.

Where abouts are you located? You'd be better off going to a local computer shop and getting them to custom build you something, or do it yourself.

Yes I think it's a renamed 9400GT. My friends dad offered to make me one he's a technician so I think I might let him make me one. What should I look for in a good computer for gaming? It's only as good as it's weakest part is what I hear? Thanks for responses and one more thing, is there a real noticeable difference between a quad core and a dual?

Where abouts are you located?

Ok I think I will get it custom built. Can anyone explain to me the main parts of a computer that are important for gaming? I'm thinking a good video card and processor and I should be good? Anyways thanks for all the help so far always appreciated =).

A powerful video card is a must. What resolution do u play at? b/c it depends on ur resolution. Then it would be the CPU as it sends the info to the videocard. Remember don't cheap out on the motherboard and the PowerSupply as it will limit ur upgradeability.

1024 768 is all I play at. I'm thinking an 8800 GT would be perfect for games I want to play.

Wlecome to HWC. Yeah it's a 9400 rebranded GTS 120 is 9500 and GT 130 is 9600 acutally. Actually I realy doubt you'll be satisfied with that. Getting a god video card + a nice PSU to put in this will be almost the same price to build one from zero with better quality piece. 8800 GT does not exist any more ( have been renamed 9800 gt ) but for the price get a ATI Radeon 4850 ( same price better performance ). You can also get a C2D like 7400 or 8400 these little dual core will be better than the low quad ( a quad under 8M cache is crap ).

Ask for more if ever needed PM box always open;)
