Default Win 7 and new system Question

Hello,

I am going to be building a system within the next month and I plan to install Windows 7 RC on it. However, when it will be time to buy Win 7 later on, wouldn't it cost me more because I'd have to buy the retail version or am I mistaken ?

I believe you can only upgrade from Vista and well I hate upgrading OSes. Leaves too much crap behind and typically causes issues.

Just buy the OEM version of Windows 7 when it comes out. It'll do the trick.

My question was actually: When buying an oem version of an o/s, dont you need to buy some other parts with it ?

I've bought OEM XP without buying a full PC. I guess it really depends on where you buy it from.

I bought oem copy of Vista from my school without buying parts so i'd assume most places should still do it

If you're in a computer/software/electrical program, see if your school or IT dept. has a license handy. Sometimes they're more than willing to hand out a free key or two. That's what I did. Then I got E-Academy MSDN.

I'm on that too =)

But it's only Vista Business up there so I imagine the Windows 7 version I'll get will be Professional. Still, nothing wrong with free legit software.
